April’s birthstone is the diamond – honest, we looked it up – and so it makes sense that we have four diamond authors coming your way on April 3rd. First up, Denise Mina, one of the best crime authors in the business who won the Theakstons Crime Novel of the Year twice in a row will be telling us about her latest, The Long Drop, which is already garnering starred reviews and the kind of buzz that honeybees can only envy. Then we have Mick Herron, whose superb spy novels have won the CWA’s Gold Dagger and been shortlisted for more crime awards than most people even know exist, who will be introducing us to Spook Street – a novel that Ian Rankin, no less, has described as “terrific”. Sabine Durrant’s Lie with Me has been described as “gripping”, “ingenious”, “superb” and left Alex Marwood “sick with envy” and she’ll be with us. And, last but not least, Liz Nugent will be flying in to tell us about Lying in Wait – her brilliant psychological thriller and a Richard and Judy Spring Pick for 2017.
Four superb authors and a superb chair to keep them on their toes in the shape of Barry Forshaw. Is this First Monday’s best ever line-up? We couldn’t possibly comment.
