There are signs of shelf wear on both the dust jacket and spine of the book, with a small tear at the top of the dust jacket's spine. The dust jacket is discoloured in places and there are a few brown spots around the spinal area. A slight creasing can also be seen on the first eleven pages.

Or Shall We Die?, an oratorio with words by Ian McEwan and music by Michael Berkeley, was performed at the Festival Hall  by London Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, conducted by Richard Hickox, on 6 February 1983 and broadcast later that evening on BBC Radio-3.
