Hazel Marshall was born in Scotland and grew up near Glasgow. She studied history at the University of Edinburgh. In 2001, after winning the Springboard Award given by the J&D Cornwell Trust, she studied for a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Writing at Falmouth College of Arts.
Hazel’s first book was Troublesome Angels And Flying Machines, an adventure story set in the times of Marco Polo and the first of a trilogy. She has also dramatised Mary Poppins, starring Juliet Stevenson, for BBC Radio 4 in a critically acclaimed production. Hazel’s second play Tango was also broadcast on BBC Radio 4.
